Bazi Profile | How Does Your Personality Affect Your Passion, Talent and Competency at Work?
Like most people, you may sometimes feel as though you’re not hitting your maximum potential and talent in your role on the job. You may feel as though you’re not connecting with your colleagues, or that some unknown force is holding you back. We live in a world mad for talent. From Hollywood, athletics to executive recruitment firms and organizations’ human resource departments globally, everyone is seeking for that special mix of natural abilities and attitudes that will drive superb performance.
Your personality through your Bazi Profile may hold the key to the answer for the question above. Before we discuss about this Asian approach to personality profiling, let us first define the different terms mentioned above. Passion can be defined as an intense emotion, a compelling zeal or desire for something. There are different reasons why individuals are motivated to work. One of these includes passion for the job at hand. When an individual is passionate about his or her career, more work gets done with more job satisfaction. These same individuals have higher levels of psychological well-being. In R. J. Burke and Lisa Fiksenbaum’s article, they cited that when people genuinely enjoy their profession and are motivated by their passion, they tend to be more satisfied with their work and are more psychologically healthy. When an individual is unsatisfied with their profession, they also seem to be dissatisfied with their family relationships and experience psychological distress. One of the crucial reason why people are so motivated by their passion at work is due to the fact that they are intrinsically talented in certain fields – and this talents may extend to each of their livelihoods, causing them to be more driven doing things they care about.
A competency is more than just knowledge and skills. Competency is a cluster of related abilities, commitments, knowledge, and skills that enable a person (or an organization) to act effectively in a job or situation. It involves having the ability to meet complex demands, drawing on and mobilizing psychosocial resources (including skills and attitudes) when the need arises. Competencies thus refer to the skills, knowledge, abilities and appropriate behaviours that lead to consistent superior performance.
As mentioned earlier, to deliver consistent superior performance and results, the key word is, “motivation”. This motivation is derived from the passion and desire that you are naturally attracted to, which is highly what is intrinsic, naturally occurring or an inborn talent. Just imagine, if you have a passion and talent for something, wouldn’t you be more motivated, engaged and generally happier doing your job or pursuing the relevant career or entrepreneurial journey? Of course, in today’s competitive environment, in order to be successful, it is crucial to ensure that what you are motivated to do is relevant to the market’s needs as well.
Thus, if you are aware of your personality, make-up, intrinsic talent and motivations to be passionate through your Bazi Profile, you should then take steps to be engaged in a work or career which you are zealous about – you will achieve greater happiness and success, both at work and at home!
For ease of reference, I have created the following format which shows the various Bazi Profiles and their relevant orientations. In this Asian approach to personality profiling, besides every individual’s main style of preferences and characteristics, it is good to note that each personality can be influenced by the others’ profiles. This is the case as we are multi-faceted as human beings (in Bazi terms, influenced by the other elements in our chart) and we will definitely have other characteristics that we exhibit and utilize in our daily lives.
An example of why just skills alone is not enough. Take for instance if you are an extreme introvert (someone who has an Analyzer base profile highlighted in Red in their JYPQ™ chart – Download Free App to know your profile from this link: https://paths.happyandsuccess.com/) in a sales position, you can practice selling skills, acquire and try to learn the applications of higher emotional quotient, but as you are not as motivated to understand things from others’ perspective compared to the profiles of Friend and Leader, you may not have the interpersonal skills, talent and the “highs” which will push you to continuously close deals. In addition, you will be ill at ease and under pressure due to the constant need to meet the established sales targets. As time goes by, your lack of passion and motivation will show and you will not perform well.
An illustration which highlight that an individual can be influenced by more than one profile – you may learn that your obvious profile is that of a Warrior, whereas your Base profile is that of a Diplomat. This means that your prominent profile, which is most obvious to others especially from a career perspective, is that of a Warrior, whilst the profile which is one that you are most comfortable with but not obvious to others, is that of the Diplomat. Here, you may face a situation where you are perceived to be good at project management, problem solving and that you love a good challenge with your superior giving you additional responsibilities according to your perceived strengths. However, in actual fact, you are someone who is comfortable to follow the existing rules and regulations and do not want too many challenges or problems to resolve. In the longer term, your intrinsic motivation will not hold up and you may not excel in your work causing “dents” in your performance.
The question at times could also be: “do we always know what we are motivated by?” or “do we sometimes change course in our life due to the pressures that we face from society, family, friends or ourselves?” There are many profiling systems in the market trying to understand why we behave the way we do. One such system is the Asian approach of Bazi profiling. What’s a Bazi profile? Based on the 2,000-year-old metaphysical study of Bazi, your Bazi profile will reveal to you the characteristics that are the most prevalent in your personality. More details on the various profiles were discussed in some of my earlier articles:

It is rare, if not impossible for one person to possess all the talents and strengths to operate an existing business or launch and grow a flourishing venture. To this end, consider what you love to do and the knowledge and talents you possess. Understand yourself, your strengths, characteristics, passion. Understand how you can work on or look for career or business opportunities that play to your strengths and build them into your competencies.
The Asian Bazi Personality Profiling system is a tool to help identify your profile and strengths so that you can become aware of your intrinsic talent, develop this talent into a competency and seek opportunities within your forte. True it, you can also learn to manage any character weakness that you might have and if needed, build a team to complement yourself to achieve the maximum success for yourself and your team!
